Next Steps

As this project continues to evolve, there are certain avenues of research I seek to explore to ensure this work’s constant improvement.

The next step in this project would be to transcribe a larger amount of the foods mentioned within London House to open up new areas of research, thereby broadening this work’s audience. For instance, I hope to transcribe the spices purchased within this kitchen record. By doing so, it would be possible to understand the extent to which London was involved in multicultural interactions through trade and colonial conquest.

Additionally, I hope to learn more about the background of this document. It would be immensely beneficial, for instance, to discover who the owners of this work were, where their property was, and wthe identity of the author. While it can be assumed that London House was owned by an extremely wealthy family, discovering the exact people would help categorize the specific class, nobility, and nationality that this food culture applies to.

Finally, I will continue to explore differing data visualizations to see if there are other effective ways to present this information that would encourage further research. This will also lead to the continuous updating of this site to ensure it is as engaging and accessible as possible.
